He is survived by: his wife Halina Gakan of Utica; his children, Agatha DeMetro, John DeMetro, Jolanta Vitale, Michael Vitale, Michal Gakan, Sylvia Reyes and Anthoni Reyes; and his siblings, Krzysztof Gakan, Maria Wiacek, Stanislaus Gakan, Wanda Kawalec and Kazimiera Siembab. He is also survived by four children.
