He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Saponaro and Mary Saponaro (DiMambro); his brother Lawrence Saponaro; and his brother-in-law Carl Planty. He is survived by: his son Samuel Jr.; his daughter-in-law Shelby Saponaro; his granddaughters, Claudia and Scarlett Saponaro; his sister Theresa Planty; and his aunts, Margaret "Maggie" DiMambro and Genevieve DiMambro. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins, close friends.
