He was predeceased by: his parents, Sylvester Gaetano and Josephine Gaetano (LaBella); his former wife Barbara; his granddaughters, A'ziya and Miya Gaetano; and his parents-in-law, John and Gloria Menesini.

He is survived by: his wife Diane J. Menesini; his children, Deborah A. (Kevin Penrose), Lori (Andrew Parry) and Richard Eric "Rick" (Dee Gaetano); his stepchildren, Kirk "Matthew" Carter, Rick Fuhrman, Scottie and Eunhye Menesini; his grandchildren, Daniel, Andrea Dauley, Michael, Laura Dauley, Tara Penrose Varga (Dave Varga), Katherine, Matthew Shereba, Kyle, Courtney Penrose, Chapin Brooks, Pearl Parry, David, Johanna Gaetano, Paul, Ida Gaetano, Jessica Gaetano, Kirk "Casey" M., Jr. and Shanyra Carter; and his cousin Vincent Parella. He is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren.
