With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rabbi Howard R. Matasar of Utica, New York, who passed away on October 19, 2024 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Rabbi Howard may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Matasar and Jeanne Matasar. He is survived by: his wife Mimi; his children, Tracy and Hillel; and his brothers, Ronnie (Edwina) and Dale (Sandy).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Friends of the IDF at support.fidf.org, the sole organization authorized to collect charitable donations on behalf of the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces across the United States.
