He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Smith and Clara Smith of Utica, NY.. He is survived by: his wife Susan; his brother Michael; his children, Gretchen and Karl (Christine); the mother of his children Karen Kienle Harries; his grandchildren, Christine Bozo (Chris), Ashley Yamaura and Justin Smith; his great grandchild Scarlett Bozo; and his in-laws, Micky Shannon, David Shea (Linda) and Garry Shea (Lorna). He is also survived by nieces and nephews and their children.
