He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Welch and Loretta Welch (McDermott); his brother Irving Welch; and his stepson Edward Rennie. He is survived by: his wife Doris Dodge; his children, JoAnn Marie Roberts (Joe), Shawn Welch and Joseph P. Welch (Nancy); his brother Howard Welch; his stepdaughter Susan Casey (Steve); his great grandchild Dalia; his nephew Marty Welch; his niece Mary Monaco; and his pet Lily. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
