John Hughes wrote a sympathy message

“Nancy, I heard the news about John this morning. I'm so sorry. I have had a sister all through my life, but never a brother. John and i were the best of friends all through our school years. I'm sure he has told you stories about the two of us. We both loved sports, especially baseball where John was the catcher and i was the third baseman. We played Little League, High School and the Town team together. I will make it a point to visit you this summer. My sympathy to the whole family.”
