He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Bernard Hamer (Ted) and Evelyn Carr Hamer; his wife Patricia Vogel; his sons, James M. Hamer, Jr. and Joseph B. Hamer; his brother Robert; his sister-in-law Joanne Walaszewski; and his nieces and nephews, Anne, Jennifer, Richard, Malinda Vogel, Dennis Dougherty, Jr., Pamela Vogel and Katherina Vogel.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Mother of Our Savior Parish (2222 Genesee St, Utica, NY 13502).

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Jim's name may be made to the Kiwanis Club of Utica ,(https://k00125.site.kiwanis.org), Utica Salvation Army (https://easternusa.salvationarmy.org) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (http://www.stjude.org).

We shared many laughs. Through his insight and wisdom - Jim taught me so much. I will forever be blessed that I was able to spend a few moments with him in January before I went south for the winter.
