He was predeceased by: his parents, James F. Powers Sr. and Patricia Powers (Dunn); and his sisters, Mary Sheila Worthen, Kathleen Rivard and Patricia E. Powers.

He is survived by: his siblings, Tom Powers (Geralynn), Edward (Rachel) and Bridget Johnson (Chris); his cousin MaryEllen Isom; and his close friend Lois Phelps. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
