He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Haines and Rebecca Haines (Shaw); his son Michael P. Haines; and his brothers, Benjamin Haines and William R. Haines.
He is survived by: his wife Susannah J. Evans; his stepsons, Adam Scherl, Evan Smith and Nolen Smith; his sister Mary Elizabeth; and his siblings-in-law, Floyd Warrington, Charlene Haines and Vicky Haines. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins.
