He was predeceased by: his parents, James D. Butler and Katherleen Butler (Davis); his children, Cynthia Butler, Fern and Charles Butler; and his sisters, Diania Butler Allen, Dorothy Butler-Carter and Janice Butler.

He is survived by: his siblings, Barbara Butler, Cleo Butler, James Butler and Larry Butler; and his grandchildren, Alexis and Truman. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins.

Moreover, he gave his children rules to help ground them, as well as forming their foundation in the faith by raising them in the Church.
