He was predeceased by: his parents, James DeStefano and Mary DeStefano (Musto); his grandson Alexander Elijah; his sister Mary Galano; his brother-in-law Anthony Montella; and his nephew Anthony.

He is survived by: his child Psychiatrist; his wife Joanne Nicotera; his children, Staci Claffey (Michael), Dawn DeStefano, Frank Elias (Heather), Melissa Elias (Brian Lanz), Edward Elias, Kristen Gaetano (Nicholas), Rick Joseph (Latoya) and Joy Joseph; his grandchildren, Emilee, Aislinn, Dylan, Hudson, Dallas, Louis, David, Michael, Nick, Cecilia, Sarah, Madelyn, Eddie, Ethan and Blake; and his sisters, Connie Montella (Angelo) and Lucy Giobbie (Vito). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
