He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Maude Awai and Lawrence Awai; his wife Joan; his children, Dexter, Nigel, Kwesi and Cazemb; and his siblings, Conrad, Joyce, Lawrence, Beatrice, Bernard (Ekvall), Weldon and Gwyneth. He was also cherished by eleven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
