He was predeceased by: his parents, George D. Banta II and Helene Jensen Banta; his siblings, George III Banta (Jean), Robert Banta (Shirley) and Helene Peterson (Richard); his nephew Clifford Banta; his nieces, Peggy Jean Banta and Debra Sherman (Winchester); and his great-nephew James Banta.
He is survived by: his sister Jane Winchester of Mount Upton; his nieces and nephews, Randy Banta (Victoria), Connie Marcus, Veleda Banta, Mike, Jeff Winchester, Sandy Winchester, Kathryn (Don), Marilyn (Greg) and Nick Banta; and his great-niece Barbara Pierce (Don).
