She was predeceased by: her daughter Blei McCarron Matthews; and her brother Adrian Pennings of Long Beach, CA. She is survived by: her sons, Kristian Matthews (Lee Ann) of Warwick, NY, Edward Joseph "E. J." Matthews, III (Gabriela S. Ghirawoo) of Tuxedo Park, NY and Jacob "Jake" Pennings Matthews (Yasmin) of Tuxedo Park, NY; her grandchildren, Evan, Kristian and Adrian; her siblings, Marie Pennings of Warwick, John'Jack" Pennings, Richard Pennings, Stephanie Yungman, Michael A. Pennings, Christine Schuster of Mesa, AZ and Stephen Pennings; and her former husband Edward Matthews, Jr. of Tuxedo Park. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, September 10th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Stephen's RC Church (75 Sanfordville Rd, Warwick, NY 10990).
