He was predeceased by: his parents, William F Gates and Mary Sheehan Gates; his friends, Gary (Big Bird), Eddie, Eric and John; and his close friend Fran Agostine.
He is survived by: his significant other Judy Sawyer; his stepchildren, Justine Lanzillo and Thomas Sawyer; and his brother James Gates.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Red Front Restaurant (71 Division St, Troy, NY 12180).
