He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald H. Cothard and Elizabeth H. Cothard (Adams). He is survived by: his daughters, Pamela Benbiga (Bouabid), Michelle Busick (Christopher) and Amber Cothard (Scott Marzec); his grandchildren, Sami and Rayan Benbiga; his siblings, Kathy Laubenthal, Donald Cothard (Candace), John Cothard and Bethann Roberts (Doran); and the mother of his children Paula. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Chapel (71 Adam St, Tonawanda, NY 14150).
