He is survived by: his wife Jillene Backus (Ross) of Marshville, NC; his children, Brianna Backus (Kelly LaTour) of Charlotte, NC, Conner Backus of Charlotte, NC and Aubrey Backus of Charlotte, NC; his grandson Milo LaTour; his brothers, Herb Backus Jr. and James Backus of Ticonderoga; his aunt Kim Vilardo (Thompson); his uncle Michael Vilardo; and his cousins, Michael Vilardo Jr. of Ticonderoga, Tara Vilardo of Ticonderoga, Jerid Vilardo of Ticonderoga and Arielle Stonitsch of Glens Falls. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
