He is survived by: his parents, Harry Backus and Beverly Thompson Backus; his spouse Julie Valvo; his sons, Jacob Backus, Kaitlin Backus of Watertown and Zachary Backus (Danielle Shanahan) of Dexter; his grandchild Julian Backus; his brothers, Shawn West and Brad West; his stepmother Anna Backus of Texas; and also, Rene and Brundish.
