He was predeceased by: his parents, John and Bessie (Stokes); and his siblings, Ann, Rose, Margaret, Harriet and Arthur.

He is survived by: his daughters, Tracy Harding of Delaware and Pamela Ong of Texas; and his siblings, John of Tennessee and Nancy (Susan Piper) of South Carolina. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
