He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Bernard and Anne Lavelle; his siblings, Mary, Bernard and James; his wife Mary; his children, Myles, Maureen Lavelle (Lopez), Marybeth (Vincent Brooks), Ann (Peter Quinn) and Jeanette (John Considine); his grandchildren, Matthew Gramazio (Shelly), Kevin Considine, Elizabeth Considine, Patrick Lavelle and Breanne Lavelle; his great grandchildren, Gianna, Liam and Luke Gramazio; his brother Peter; and his sisters-in-law, Maureen Lavelle and Kathleen Sheehan. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews, their spouses, and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
