She was predeceased by: her son Mason Lane; and her uncle Leonard Hires. She is survived by: her mother Michelle McCauley; her children, Brandan Buntin and Melia Lane; her siblings, Shawn, Milique, Lakia, Fertia and Wayman; her mother Barbara; her nieces and nephews, Lexi, Kamaya, Krzysztof, Mariusz, Gabryjel, Chase and Bryce; her great-nephew Adrian; and her godmother Janet. She is also survived by family, a host of adopted nieces/nephews, cousins, family and friends.

During the global pandemic, Shawtaye was blessed with the arrival of twins, Mason and Melia Lane, on September 9, 2020.
