With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Patrick Bates of Syracuse, New York, who passed away on January 12, 2024 at the age of 55. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton and Julia; and his mother-in-law Barbara Wachob. He is survived by: his son Owen; his siblings, Kevin (Denise), David (Debbie) and Christine Kent (David); his former wife Laura Shultz; and his father-in-law Ray Wachob. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's name to one's favorite charity.
