He is survived by: his wife Gwendolyn Kearse; his children, Toni Brown, Francina Kearse, Cheryell Kearse, Felicia Kearse-Tillman (Ronald), Kewanda Kearse-Lara (Hector), Alton James Kearse (Patrice), Anthony Kearse, Shawn Kearse (Jamie) and Gregory Jones; and his sisters, Clara Bennett and Jessie Edmonds. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.
