He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Henson and Catherine Henson; his wife Lucy Henson; his son Mark Henson; his grandson Timothy Collins; and his siblings, Jeanne Rice and Henry Henson.

He is survived by: his sons, James Henson Jr., Vincent Henson (Susan) and Joseph Henson; his daughter-in-law Kristina Henson; his grandchildren, Casey Collins, Collin, Mara, Lucy, Lily Henson and Hope Henson Keppeler; and his siblings, Paul Henson (Peggy), Michael Henson (Melanie) and Margaret Hayes. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
