He was predeceased by: his wife Cora Jernigan; his parents, Horace Jernigan and Hattie Jernigan; and his brothers, Wallace, Willie James and Joe Nathan Jernigan.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Jernigan (Audrey), Horace Jernigan, Leo Jernigan and Cliretta Gunn (Shawn); and his siblings, Henry, Willie Lee Jernigan and Eva Harris. He is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
