He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward McCarthy and Mary McCarthy; his wife Janet McCarthy (Brogan); and his children, Joe, Phil, Mike McCarthy and Janet McCarthy.
He is survived by: his children, Chuck (Vera), Chris (Barb), Tim McCarthy (Laurie) and Mary Jones (Max). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
