He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Mettler and Jane Mettler; his stepmother Betty Mettler; his siblings, Tommy Mettler and Betsy Growney; and his daughter Mikki Machado.

He is survived by: his wife Ellie Mettler; his daughters, Samantha Kowalczyk (Jeff), Marlo McPartland, Mindy Spiegel, Lauren Johnson, Lisa Lancia and Lynda Babaian (Greg); his grandchildren, Corey, Jesse, Aidan, Leighann, Emma, Emily, Alexa, Gabriella, John, Meaghan, Joseph, Cole and Tyler; his brother-in-law Mike Growney; and his son-in-law Alex Machado. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
