She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Schmitt and Charlotte Schmitt; her brother David Schmitt (Sue); and her adoptive son Allan Richter. She is survived by: her husband Douglas Mayer; her stepchildren, Christopher Owen (Kathleen Wilson), Cara Hollop (John), Brian Gifford, Sidra Gifford, Timothy Gifford, Grace, Moritz (Craig Morrison), Jennifer Mayer (Ian Cumpston) and Andrew Mayer (Kimberly Gardner); her grandchildren, Caitlin, Tessa, Oskar, Isla, Leo, Charlotte, Oliver, Stella and Linden; her cousin Rondi Kilen; her sister-in-law Sue Schmitt; her friend Betty-Jean Roppolo; and her caregiver Judy.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home (1700 Washington Ave, Rensselaer, NY 12144). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:15 PM and from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the above organizations, or to the American Friends Service Committee, a humanitarian organization dear to her heart.
