He is survived by: his siblings, Nancy, Mary Tonjes (Tim), Jeannine Anderson-Aldridge and David; his sister-in-law Kristine Anderson; his stepsiblings, Frances and Jim; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Eva Aldridge, Henry, Sadie and Zeke Tonjes. He is also survived by cousins and their spouses and many children.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Democratic National Committee or New York - Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center.
