He was predeceased by: his parents, James Nichols and Mary Alice Saunders; his former wife Joan Nichols; his children, Rénee Nichols and Adam Bedard; his brothers, Fred and James Nichols; and his father-in-law Ellsworth Wood.
He is survived by: his wife Anita Wood Nichols; his children, Robert Nichols, Jr. (Rebecca) of Easton, William Nichols (Jessica) of Wilton, Nicole Keegan (Kevin) of Stillwater and Thomas Bedard (Danielle) of Schaghticoke, NY.; and his mother-in-law Rita Wood of Stillwater. He is also survived by 16 Grandchildren.
