He was predeceased by: his parents, John DeFreest and Teresa Chamberlain DeFreest. He is survived by: his wife Mary M. Thomas DeFreest, Sr.; his children, Pamela Ishkanian (late Robert) of Eighty Four, PA, Mary Theresa Groves (Robert) of Stephentown, Janice Marie Stevens (LeRoy) of Berne, NY and John E. DeFreest, Jr. (Phyllis) of Stephentown; and his grandchildren, Shelby Dawn, Jessica Whitney, Riley Forrest, John E. DeFreest, III and William E. DeFreest. He is also survived by three great grandchildren.
