He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Pohemus and William Schomp Sheppard; and his siblings, Margery Connett and Richard Sheppard. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Kimberly Jo Sheppard (Steven Tancer) and Robert Samuel Sheppard; and his grandchildren, Georgia Frances McKay and Samuel Jake McKay (Mary).
