She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl M. Merkel and Florene A. Merkel (Gann); her former husband George T. Patterson; and her siblings, Richard Merkel and Ruth Hoppe.
She is survived by: her husband James D. Canty; her nephew Mark; and her cousin Joan Wescott (William).
