He was predeceased by: his parents, John Welch, Sr. and Edna Mae Ashley; and his sisters, Virginia, Florence, Madeline and Maxine.

He is survived by: his daughters, Felicia, Christine (Rudy) and Crystal; his grandchildren, Anthony (Vanessa), JeVaughn (Quanisha), Jordan M., Kelsey, Christiana, Jordan and Isabelle; his great grandchildren, Josiah, Mariah, Cameron, Amiri and Xavier; his niece Pamela Roach; and his godson Rasso Anderson. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
