She was predeceased by: her parents, Ronald Ouwerkerk and Elinor K. Kelske Ouwerkerk. She is survived by: her husband David A. Oakes; her son Greg Melanson (Eva Muriel); and her grandchildren, Kyle and Zoe.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home (25 Railroad Ave, Chatham, NY 12037).
In lieu of flowers those who would like to can make contributions to the Columbia County Veterans Service Agency in Brenda's name.
