He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Herman Thiele and Elizabeth Jane Haren Thiele; his wife Judith Ellen Grabher (Judy); his son Kenneth; and his siblings, Mary, June, Alvin, John, Douglas and Carl.

He is survived by: his son Eric (Christine); his daughter-in-law Michelle; and his grandsons, Joshua and Conor. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
