It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Virginia Belle Matteson Gier of South Dayton, New York, born in Gowanda, New York, who passed away on January 5, 2022, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Silas Guy and Ruth Matteson (Meyers); her children, Donna Sprague (Ellis), Dwayne Gier (Mary), Lois Waite (Dennis) and Douglas Gier (Amy); her husband Donald Gier; and her sisters, Mary Hills and Martha Howard. She was also cherished by 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the South Dayton Volunteer Fire Department.
