He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Phelix; his siblings, Robert "Bob" Irish and Betty Powell; and his parents, Clarence Matthie and Jean Matthie.
He is survived by: his children, Melinda Hill of Brushton, Anita Matthie, Aaron Latray of Waddington, Kevin Phelix and Erica Lashomb of Colton; his siblings, David (Wannetta Matthie), Frank (Lena Matthie), Tom (Bridget Matthie), Sandy Matthie of Colton and Sally Matthie-Patraw of Colton; his sister-in-law Peggy Irish of South Colton; his grandchildren, Natasha, Lindsey, Donald, Zediah, Quillan and Maryetta; and his great grandchildren, Paislee, Eastyn, Layla and Madelynn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Roger's memory can be made to the Colton Rescue Squad as well as the Potsdam Humane Society.
