He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Cunningham and Arlene Cunningham (Bellenier); his siblings, Francis Cunningham and Nancy; and his brother-in-law David Delaney.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Cunningham; his children, Michael Cunningham and Leslie Slater (Dean); his daughter-in-law Katie Cunningham; his brother Gary Cunningham Sr. (Bernice); his sister-in-law Dale Cunningham; his grandchildren, Justin Slater and Kaylyn Nugent (Robert); his great grandchildren, Irving Nugent and Jolene Nugent; and his grandchildren, Marybeth "Boots" Moorehead and Nathan Moorehead. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's name may be made to Hospice of the Finger Lake, St. Jude's or the Mottville Fire Department.
