He was predeceased by: his parents, Orman Leighton and Elaine Leighton; and his wife Cecilia. He is survived by: his close friend Laura Van Vlack of Woodstock; his children, Melissa Leighton of Des Moines, IA, Benjamin Leighton and Avery Leighton of Boston, MA.; his siblings, Bruce Leighton (Kate) of Saugerties and Dawn Greer (Bob) of Saugerties; and his nieces and nephews, Michael, Thomas, John Leighton, Samantha and Jody Greer.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hudson Valley Hospice or Guiding Eyes for the Blind is appreciated.
