He was predeceased by: his parents, August Bohl and Gertrude Bohl (Vandenhouten); his wife Shirley A. Bohl; his son Daniel E. Bohl; and his brother James Herbert Bohl.

He is survived by: his son John C. Bohl, Jr. (Kathleen); and his siblings, Richard Bohl and Arlene Bohl Cooley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
