It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Smith O'Brien of Scottsville, New York, born in Rochester, New York, who passed away on February 24, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Smith and Elizabeth O'Brien; his close friend Jean O'Brien; his children, Kathleen Houghton (Brendan), Kelly O'Brien (Patricio Sorensen) and William O'Brien (Chausey Ashey); his grandchildren, Connor, Maggie, Max, Liam, Ian, Wendy and Owen; and his brothers, Michael O'Brien (Marjory), Brendan O'Brien (Eileen), Kevin O'Brien (Linda) and Sean O'Brien.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Alvah Halloran & Son Funeral Home (2125 Chili Ave, Rochester, NY 14624). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church (99 Main St, Scottsville, NY 14546).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McQuaid Jesuit or the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in his memory or a charity of your choice.
