He was predeceased by: his son Michael; his sisters, Nancy VanAlstyne and Diane Melita; his wife Katherine Jule VanAlstyne; and also, Phyllis Lane and Anne Brown.
He is survived by: his brother Jerry VanAlstyne; his nieces and nephews, Ronald Johnson (Kathy Johnson), Russell VanAlstyne II (Lorriane VanAlstyne), Peter VanAlstyne (Tammy VanAlstyne) and Robert VanAlstyne (Mary Janet VanAlstyne); his grandchildren, Ronald Johnson, Melissa Johnson, Maria Purcaro (VanAlstyne), Mary VanAlstyne, Paxton VanAlstyne, Christian VanAlstyne, Nathan VanAlstyne, Michael Everest, Jason Everest and Trista Everest; and his siblings, Robert Rickard and Bonnie Olendorf. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital honoring their legacy of service and love.
