He is survived by: his parents, Richard Thelen and Ruth Bailey Thelen; his wife Jerene Betts Thelen; his grandchildren, Lucas, Antonia, Joseph, James DiPreta, Madilyn Eddy and Schuyler Eddy; and his sisters, Patricia Dyer (Robert) and Carolyn Bove (Joseph). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
