He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred J. Coons and Kathryn Coons (Mahar); his former wife Rosemary Hyland Coons; his sisters, Jean and Kathryn McEnaney; and his grandson Matthew Aidan Coons.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Coons (Bogardus Massa) of Middleburgh; his children, Frederick Coons (Cheryl), Gregory Coons (Ruth) of Albany, Angela Smith (Brian) of Howes Caves, Matthew Coons, Peter Massa of Middleburgh and Andrew Massa of Saratoga Springs; his grandchildren, Hyland Jude Coons, Meagan Coons of Malta, Ryan Coons of Castleton, Sam, Ben Caso of Albany, Joseph Massa (Nicole), Patricia Harmon (Rob), Brittany Cushman (Michael) of Howes Caves, Christa Loomis (Mitchell) of Canastota, Samantha Massa of Eagle Bridge, Emily, Faith Massa of Cambridge, Anthony Massa of Saratoga, Jonathan Esteron, Bradley and Stephanie Hintz; his great grandchildren, Ryan, Ellie Mae Green, Hailey Hintz, Nicholas Massa, Claire Cushman of Howes Caves, Ella Elizabeth, Lillian Marie Harmon and Penelope June Loomis of Canastota; and his siblings-in-law, Bob McEnaney of Albany, David Bogardus (Cheryl) and Florence Bogardus (Jessica Boradori). He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
