We are sad to announce that on December 22, 2023, at the age of 91, Jane N. Smida of Schoharie, New York, born in Greenfield, Massachusetts passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Fayette Norwood and Marion Norwood (Howe); her husband Gilbert L. Smida; her grandson Sean; and her siblings, Robert, Margaret, Mary and Lawrence.

She is survived by: her children, Mark L. Smida (Deborah) of Zebulon, NC, Melissa S. Young (Richard) of Altamont, Michael V. Smida (Laurie) of Glenville and Mitchel L. Smida of Sloansville; her grandchildren, Lukas Smida, Meghan Thompson, Matthew Smida, Darren Slater, Justin Slater, Tonya Gunzinger, Brandon Slater, Courtney Smida, Curtis Smida, Amber Smida and Devon Smida; and her brother James Norwood of Dubois, PA. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jane to Christ The Shepherd Lutheran Church, PO Box 423, Schoharie, NY 12157 OR to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Upstate NY/VT Chapter.
