He was predeceased by: his wife Joaquina. He is survived by: his parents, Joao Alves of Alem and Inocencia Maria Ferreira Dias; and his children, Paula (Joseph Soliman), Carla (Jon Conway), Christopher Alem and Heather Lindberg. He is also survived by grandchildren; and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
