He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Duel and Katherine Duel (Williams); his wife Elizabeth; and his siblings, Sharon Moyer (Art) and Raymond Duel (Phyllis).

He is survived by: his daughters, Kimberly Rickard and Rebecca Barger (Kenneth); his granddaughters, Emily, Laura Rickard and Lilly Barger; and his brother Ronald Duel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
