Eleanor R. Mach Obituary
MALTA – Eleanor R. Mach, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at her home in Malta, NY.
Eleanor was born on September 5th, 1946 in Schenectady, NY to Joseph A. Gautie and Rosemond (Frederick) Gautie, she was the oldest of six children. Eleanor was a graduate of Linton High School in Schenectady Class of 1964 and earned her associates degree from Fulton Montgomery Community College in 1967. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years Edward T. Mach. She married Edward on January 28th, 1967 and raised their family in Schenectady. Eleanor was a 3rd generation designer and manager at W. J. Frederick and Sons Florist in Rotterdam, NY. Later, she worked at Trustco Bank and the office of Attorney, Robert Hoffman and Philips Medical Imaging. Eleanor was a member of the Schenectady Business & Professional Women's Club Inc.
She had a deep love and affection for animals and loved her cats who brought her joy and comfort throughout her life. After the passing of her mother Rosemond, Eleanor proudly stepped into the role of the family matriarch continuing family traditions and gatherings. Eleanor enjoyed spending time during the summer at the family's beloved lakeside home on Friends Lake. As summer turned to fall, as the sun lowered in the sky, she loved watching the diamonds on the lake.
She is survived by her children, Christopher J. Mach and his wife, Stacy of Asheville, North Carolina and Laura A. Campbell and her husband Charles Campbell of Waterford, NY. Eleanor is survived by her deeply cherished grandchildren, Joseph Reed and Robert Henry Mach of Asheville, North Carolina and Eleanor Karen and Jacob Christopher Campbell of Waterford, NY. She is also survived by her brother, Bruce (Kathleen) Gautie of Ballston Spa, brother, Peter Gautie of Schenectady, Sister, Allison (Daniel) Barry of Las Vegas, Nevada and brother, Bryan (Jill) Gautie of Albany, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her brother Stephen C. Gautie.
